This course teaches learners the specialised techniques of seated back acupressure massage — a clothed, oil-free therapy focusing on pressure points and meridians to relieve tension, stress, and muscular discomfort.
What You Will Learn:

Health and safety requirements for acupressure and massage treatments
Conducting risk assessments and maintaining hygiene standards
Recognising contraindications and managing contra-actions
Correct use of PPE and sanitisation of equipment
Understanding Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for cleaning and disinfecting products
Performing thorough client consultations and posture assessments
GDPR compliance and maintaining accurate treatment records
Providing personalised aftercare advice for ongoing wellbeing
Anatomy and Physiology:
Structure and functions of the muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems of the back, shoulders, and neck
Understanding pressure points, meridian pathways, and energy flow (Qi)
How acupressure affects circulation, lymphatic drainage, and stress levels
Practical Skills:
Preparing the treatment area and positioning the client correctly in a seated massage chair
Performing acupressure and rhythmic compression techniques safely and effectively
Applying thumb, palm, and elbow pressure along meridian lines
Focusing on key tension areas including shoulders, neck, and upper back
Adapting pressure and routine for individual client needs
Maintaining correct therapist posture and ergonomics
Cleaning, disinfecting, and storing equipment appropriately after use

None – suitable for beginners or qualified therapists wishing to expand their massage skills.
